Master Nepali craftsman created this exquisite jewelry box, inlaid with coral, turquoise and Himalayan crystal. The exterior has intricate silver- and gold-plated copper filigree work. The interior is lined in red velvet. Similar jewelry boxes are recorded as having been designed for the Royal family of Nepal.
In addition to the top floral and leaf motif and the repoussé lions, of note there are several inlaid turquoise pieces carved as figured turtles – a symbol of good fortune.
