This wonderful Nepali ceremonial seal/stamp is crafted from natural resin with a base of silver-plated copper that has been repousséd with delicate patterns and animals. Turquoise and coral insets also adorn the base.

Repousse is a technique by which the artist delicately hammers the reverse side of metal to create ornate patterns in relief.

One side has a double vajra, the other has the twelve animals representing the zodiac. The base of the stamp is embossed with a lotus blossom

These ceremonial stamps are used by all monasteries, where the Head Monk seals wax with the base of the stamp. Each monastery has their own unique stamp.
